Difference Between Goat Meat and Mutton
There are various types of red meat available on the market. The most notable types are beef from cows, mutton from sheep, and goat meat. For this case, mutton and goat meat will form a major part of the discussion.
Goat meat is arguably among the most preferred meat in many parts of the world. Mutton on the other hand, is not quite as popular and there are not many people who prefer mutton over other types of red meat. The main reason for this is the health aspect for both. Mutton is not particularly healthy as compared to goat meat. Goat meat has less saturated fats and other fats in general. It also has low calories and its cholesterol levels are negligible. While goat meat is light pink to bright red in colour, mutton is pale pink or pinkish-red in colour. A baby lamb’s meat is usually pale pink in colour while meat from a mature lamb is the one that appears pinkish-red. Mutton is high in terms of its fatty acids concentration. It appeals more to people who prefer meat with a strong flavour.
In terms of cooking, they can both be cooked in the same ways. However, medium heat should be used for cooking goat meat since it is lean and high heat would destroy is tenderness. Mutton, on the other hand, can be cooked using high heat since it is fattier and more concentrated in terms of its fatty acids. Overall goat meat has fewer calories and it is much healthier compared to mutton. The most important thing is to understand your preferences and make the right choice although goat meat appears a favorite already.
